In each module you will be asked to complete the following types of assignment
Creative Projects: At the end of each module you will prepare one in-depth creative work. Each of these creative projects will directly connect to the topics introduced in the module. These may be independent and collaboratively developed. All creative projects will be submitted to the IDeATe Gallery by 9pm the day before class. Students will then digitally review and critique them before class and a subset will be discussed in depth during class time.
Warm up exercises: Each module will start with ‘warm up’; a quick-to-implement creative exercise that is heavily constrained. It’s designed to tease-out some of the ideas around the module through hands-on inquiry.
Reading Reflections: Each module students will be given up to three readings to review. Each reading should be compiled into a critical review as an annotated bibliography which summarizes and reflects on the texts both independently and as a whole
Research Exercises (a.k.a. Looking Outs): Students will perform short research exercises once per module. Students will gather, critically review and report on the work of artists and creative practioners related to the module’s themes and topics to help build their domain familiarity.
In addition to this at the end of the course you will also product:
A final project: Very similar to a creative project, you will prepare a well integrated tech-art outcome that will showcase what you have learned as part of this course (see Module 5).
Exhibition and presentation: In lieu of a final exam, you will showcase this final project as an open exhibition of creative works. The exhibition will be open to students, faculty and invites guests (see Module 5).
Reflection Paper: You’ll write short paper on a topic relating to the course as a whole and the readings introduced. You’ll conduct independent readings, research and analysis to prepare this paper.
